The Arthur Project (TAP) is a nonprofit organization transforming how young people access mental health supports. We partner with public middle schools to provide school-based therapeutic mentoring and early mental health intervention for students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Since 2017, TAP has grown from serving one school to supporting hundreds of students across New York City, with plans to expand into Philadelphia. The Arthur Project (TAP) is a youth mentoring organization that partners with middle schools to provide relationship-based, therapeutic mentoring that promotes healing, belonging, academic success, and long-term opportunity.

Our mentors are social work students who serve as trusted adults who help young people navigate challenges, build social capital, and strengthen connections to school, family, and community. TAP is committed to advancing equity through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and prevention-focused practice.

Position Summary

The Practicum Manager is responsible for the quality, coordination, and growth of The Arthur Project's social work practicum program at our Brooklyn middle school program site. This role provides leadership in workforce development, supervision, training, and site-based quality assurance while ensuring social work students receive a rigorous, supportive, and impactful field education experience.

Practicum Program Leadership

• Oversee implementation and continuous improvement of TAP's social work practicum model.
• Maintain and strengthen partnerships with schools of social work, field education departments, and academic institutions.
• Ensure practicum experiences align with TAP's mission, program goals, and professional social work standards.
• Strengthen TAP's workforce development pipeline by preparing emerging social workers for professional practice and licensure.

Supervision & Learning

• Facilitate site-based group supervision, reflective practice, and case conferencing for social work students.
• Support emerging supervision needs and serve as a resource to site
• Ensure consistent, high-quality training, coaching, and professional development for interns.
• Support alignment between academic learning objectives and real-world practice experiences.
• Oversee site-based clinical quality assurance, ensuring ethical, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practice.

Program Integration & Quality

• Lead site-based implementation of psychoeducational and therapeutic group work initiatives.
• Ensure effective integration of social work students into school-based mentoring and youth development programming.
• Serve as the site lead during crisis situations, providing guidance, consultation, and coordination as appropriate.
• Partner with site leadership to ensure service quality, program fidelity, and positive outcomes for youth and families.
• Identify opportunities for program improvement and support implementation of best practices.

Data, Evaluation & Compliance

• Oversee site-based administrative requirements related to social work students, including documentation, evaluations, and university compliance.
• Track intern progress, competencies, and learning outcomes throughout the practicum experience.
• Gather and analyze feedback from interns, supervisors, and university partners to strengthen practicum systems.
• Support data collection and reporting efforts related to training, workforce development, and program outcomes.
• Ensure timely completion of required evaluations, learning agreements, and practicum documentation.

Personnel Management

• Directly supervise and mentor social work students
• Foster a culture of learning, accountability, reflection, and continuous improvement.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts that contribute to a diverse and representative social work workforce.

LMSW

Experience supervising social work students

At least three-years of post-masters experience
