The Doula Program’s mission is to minimize the isolation and loneliness of New Yorkers with advanced illnesses who are facing the end of their lives alone. We are the only nonprofit that extensively trains, carefully matches, and then supervises Doula Volunteers, who visit the people we serve each week and form meaningful relationships that last months or even years. Our volunteers find their lives as enriched as those they visit, and our staff supports the meaningful work that our volunteers do in the community.
For this part-time position, we are looking for a collaborative partner who has a background in social work and/or familiarity with NYC social-service and healthcare organizations. The primary focus of this position is to expand our outreach to possible and current referrers, with the ability to travel around the city for in-person meetings at social agency sites, as well as meeting via phone or Zoom.

• Communicating to referrers the benefits and limitations of our services
• Assisting with our volunteer training program (1 evening a week for 8 consecutive weeks each spring)
• Occasionally attending continuing ed meetings for volunteers, which occur every 6-8 weeks in the evenings on Zoom
• Enthusiasm for our work and mission
• A network of relationships and familiarity with NYC’s social-service and healthcare agencies that serve older adults or chronically/terminally ill patients
• Fearless and enthusiastic outreach skills to secure to new referrers and strengthen ties to existing ones
• Strong communications and relationship-building skills
